Entry #5 Does Arizona Really Need More College Grads?
I have just read the article Governor Doug Ducey has written for Arizona central about improving the amount of college graduates. He uses a great amount of pathos, stating that he is speaking to parents and students as a "husband and father." He wants to appear as if he's just like us with the same goals such as the "American Dream" Implementing the fact that you cannot be successfull without the full proof graduate degree. That in order to be able to afford life, you must have this certificate.
Governor Ducey uses ethos credibility as though as he's the governor so he must know all right? He says that this route is best for our "children's futures." He lashes parents in telling them that he will give his kids a better education that he will help his kids graduate. He says all these things that will fix the problem of not enough people in college. But how is he going to raise graduation rates? In my experience of the "no one gets left behind" movement, means that the curriculum suffers, that the actual studies being taught is easier than before. He says that he's trying to help low-income families, but has 0 logical appeal in to how he's going to do these things. Make them pay their debts to the government for the rest of their life?
Going to college, is a deep personal decision that shouldn't be the decision in who is successful or not, that it is the only bright future for our children. Governor Ducey is reeling these parents in with such an emotional appeal, giving them hope, but what is the true objective of all of this.
Is this really about having more educated persons in the state of Arizona? I don't know, this article he has written, seems like there is something in between the lines. This could just be my conspiracy side talking, but I believe that we should always question what we are told especially if it is spoken by our government.

I agree with you in high school they need to really figure out if these kids really do want to go to college. I know for me it wasn't question no one asked me is just what was expected. And I don't believe you need to go to college to be successful. There are so many people in this world that didn't go to college that make way more money than people who do. College should be a choice not something that is demanded.
