Entry #6 Raison D'être

Image
What are the reason's in which we stay here. Simply, What are we meant for? Raison D'être is the reason that a person strives for in their existence. Does there need to be a reason? Some people live for the fact that they will one day be reunited with the ones that they love and live in peace eternity. But, what about the people who live to live. Those who want to live for something, be something meant to be, but have unrelenting obstacles and barriers that can never be broken down. Like the American Dream, that so little will achieve. What's it like for those who are idle, longing for a richer home, richer family, and a more meaningful life. Do they suffer?      In his letters to Theo, Vincent Van Gogh describes this predicament as if living through the eyes of a bird, In the springtime a bird in a cage  knows very well that there’s something he’d be good for; he feels very clearly that there’s something to be done but h...

Entry #5 Does Arizona Really Need More College Grads?

Image
I have just read the  article  Governor Doug Ducey has written for Arizona central about improving the amount of college graduates. He uses a great amount of pathos, stating that he is speaking to parents and students as a "husband and father." He wants to appear as if he's just like us with the same goals such as the "American Dream" Implementing the fact that you cannot be successfull without the full proof graduate degree. That in order to be able to afford life, you must have this certificate.     Governor Ducey uses ethos credibility as though as he's the governor so he must know all right? He says that this route is best for our "children's futures." He lashes parents in telling them that he will give his kids a better education that he will help his kids graduate. He says all these things that will fix the problem of not enough people in college. But how is he going to raise graduation rates? In my...

Entry #4 John Cage and his Silent Song

Image
Can music only be what's written on a page. Or is music only music once it's performed. Are the morning bird's whistle a song or the tap of your finger on a keyboard. Is it a collection of notes and melodies in perfect order. Is a rest in the middle of a piece still considered a part of the song, or is it simply emptiness.     During the modern era of music (1800's-1980's), this question of "What is music" truly came in to play. Musicians were experimenting new and dangerous things since the idea of music was no longer only meant for God. Atonal music was created, which was pretty unsound. Instead of music starting and ending on the same note, no note could be played twice within the same 4 measures. It really just sounds like a child trying to annoy their parents. For example,      In my opinion, this isn't music at all, but whatever. It is what it is. The best thing to come out of this era were Philips Corner's Piano Activities. It...

Entry #3 You Won't Believe This

Image
Media leads you to an opinion without actually stating an opinion? WHaaaa? What about media stating a fact that media are stating facts while sneaking in opinions unknowingly to the public while sneaking in their own opinions to a larger audience while gaining authority by dissing the other means of media outlets?  Mind blown right? Alright so lets start with what we all know right. Local news means that you get the news, the facts, of those around you, the people you respect right? Even though, yes those certain news sights can have a certain type of slanted reporting at times, but for the most part local news is news that you are more inclined to trust vs. the country wide ones known for political bias's.  But, don't be so set on putting your trust into anybody these days. AND HERE'S WHY Man OH Man, Has the news done us dirty. Instead of each one of these nice local news, has collaborated in telling us that "THIS [media bias] IS EXT...
